How to host a sundowner that actually fills up

A sundowner lives or dies on two things: timing and crowd. Get the golden hour right and fill it with people who bring energy, and the rest takes care of itself. Here's a simple playbook.

1. Time it to the light

Start 60–90 minutes before sunset. People arrive late, so a 5:30 start for a 7:00 sunset means the terrace is full exactly when the sky turns. Put the real start time on the page and the vibe will follow.

2. Pick a venue that frames the sky

Rooftops, terraces, west-facing balconies, garden lawns. You don't need a fancy space — you need an unobstructed horizon and somewhere for 20–60 people to stand and move.

3. Build a guest list, not a broadcast

The best sundowners feel curated. Invite a core of 15–20 people you trust to set the tone, then let them bring a plus-one. Use RSVPs and approvals so you know your numbers and your crowd before the day.

4. Make the page do the work
