How to host an online event (and keep the join link private)

Not every event happens in a room. Workshops, AMAs, cohort sessions, launches and community calls increasingly happen online — but most tools treat the join link as an afterthought, pasting it on a public page where anyone can grab it. RÉVE handles online events as a first-class case: a real event page, proper RSVPs, and a join link that stays private until it matters.

Create the page

Tap Create, and on the location step switch from “In person” to “Online.” Instead of a venue, you add your join link — Zoom, Google Meet, YouTube, or anything else. Everything else is the same: title, date and time (in your timezone), cover, description, and either free RSVPs or paid tickets.

The join link stays private

This is the part most tools get wrong. On RÉVE, the join link is never shown on the public page and never handed out in the API. Only guests who RSVP (or buy a ticket) can see it — and even then it unlocks shortly before the event starts. Before that, confirmed guests see a “link unlocks soon” note; everyone else just sees that it's an online event. The link also lands on each guest's ticket, so nobody has to dig through email at start time.

Free anywhere, paid in India

Online events work as free RSVPs for hosts anywhere in the world. If you're in India and want to charge, you can — ticket money goes straight to your UPI with instant, hourly settlement and no platform fee, exactly like an in-person paid event.

Why it matters

A private, time-gated link means you keep control of who actually shows up — no forwarded links, no gate-crashers, no scraping. You get the reach of a shareable page with the safety of an invite-only door. That's the whole point of hosting on your own page instead of dropping a raw Zoom link in a group chat.
